Definition Programs that offer workshops or other forms of training which help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups understand the basic principles of strategic planning; and/or lead key staff through a planning process in which they develop an organizational plan which has long and short-term goals, objectives, strategies, activities and tasks. Strategic planning helps an organization focus its energy, ensure that members of the organization are working toward common goals, assess and adjust the organization's direction in response to a changing environment and, overall, make fundamental decisions and take actions which determine what the organization is, what it does, and why it does it, with a focus on the future.
