Definition Private educational institutions at preschool, elementary or secondary levels that are established for the purpose of providing educational services for children with disabilities. Included are special residential schools as well as private special day schools. Parents may place a child with a disability in the private school of their choice at public expense if the district cannot provide an appropriate educational program for that child.
