Definition Programs that issue bulletins which warn the public when snow conditions in a particular mountain area are such that an avalanche (a mass of sliding snow) is thought likely. Avalanches usually occur when snow is deposited on slopes of 20 degrees or more. Warnings may include safety instructions for people in the area.
